Facial Injectables
Dr Ellie Borgelt has over 10 years’ experience as a facial injector.
Dr Borgelt has a thorough understanding of the facial anatomy, thanks to her training as a dentist. As such she can avoid any complications and deliver the best results.
As a busy, working mother herself, she understand the convenience of having her injectables whilst visiting the dentist.
Dr Borgelt completed her extensive training in facial injectables with AADFA in 2012 and she has since completed further continuous education programs in the area of dento-facial aesthetics.
What to expect?
At your first appointment, you will be required to given all the relevant information and consent forms, to comply with all the new regulations by AHPRA, effective from July 1st, 2023.
You will have some photos taken of your problematic area and you will be given the opportunity to ask any questions you might have.
Facial injectables and how they work
The two main types of injectable substances used are:
- botulinum toxin type A (sometimes known as ‘Botox’), which temporarily paralyses the facial muscles that cause wrinkles, and
- dermal fillers, which plump out wrinkles or other parts of the face.
Anti- wrinkle injections usually take 2 weeks to take full effect.
With dermal-fillers the results are immediate but we recommend waiting 2 weeks to see the results.
These types of injectables are prescription only medicines (schedule 4 medicines).
This means that only authorised registered health practitioners, such as dentists with the right training, can prescribe them

What are the risks and side effects?
We want to help you understand the risks, so you are aware of them before having any procedure done.
At your appointment with us, we will give you all the information on what to expect before, during and after the procedure. This includes all the appropriate after care.
The most common side effects are mozzy-bite-like dots on the injection site. This is a normal reaction of the skin to the product. Redness of the area, bleeding, bruising and headaches can be expected in some cases.
To avoid any unwanted side effects, it is best to avoid 48 hours:
Alcohol
Strenuous exercise
Panadol, Nurofen
Fish Oil, Vit D
You will be informed to avoid any massage, facials, waxing or anything that can pull the muscles of your face for 2 weeks after the procedure.
If you are currently taking any prescription medication, it is best to consult with your GP before any facial injectables.
