What is the
Invisalign System?

The Invisalign System is a virtually invisible treatment that uses an innovative approach to gently yet effectively straighten your teeth. Through a series of custom-made removable aligners made with unique technology, the Invisalign system gradually and predictably moves your teeth to your desired position.

How does the Invisalign System work?

  • Initially, your Invisalign-trained doctor will take photos, X-rays, and digital scans or a dental impression to help create your treatment plan.
  • Align Technology, the creator of Invisalign clear aligners, will then use these records, along with the treatment prescribed by your doctor, to create a customised 3D treatment plan just for you. With the treatment plan, you’ll be able to see the final position your teeth are predicted to reach after treatment. This treatment plan is used to develop your customised aligners and also estimate the likely length of your treatment.
  • The customised aligners will be manufactured and shipped to your doctor's office.
  • Your series of custom-made aligners will be given to you (typically 3-4 sets at a time) for you to wear every day and change them at home approximately every 1-2 weeks.
  • You'll be visiting your Invisalign-trained doctor approximately every 6-8 weeks to monitor the progress of your treatment and receive the next series of aligners.
  • After you've finished your Invisalign aligner treatment, you may need to use retainers to help make sure the new position of your teeth is maintained.

Life with Invisalign treatment

See what it’s like living with the Invisalign System and how it fits into your life.

  • Since Invisalign clear aligners are barely noticeable, you can be yourself and don’t have to hide your smile while going through treatment.
  • Lead an active lifestyle? Invisalign treatment lets you continue wearing your aligners without having to worry about sharp brackets irritating your mouth.
  • Oral hygiene is a lot easier to upkeep because Invisalign clear aligners are removable, letting you brush and floss your teeth regularly.
  • Craving a snack? No problem. Since Invisalign clear aligners are removable, you have the freedom to eat, chew and drink whatever you like.
  • Invisalign treatment appointments work with your schedule. Most visits are in and out, with a quick progress check once approximately every 6-8 weeks.

The advantages of Invisalign treatment

  • Invisalign aligners are removable, so it is easier to clean your teeth and maintain your oral health during treatment.
  • Even better, most people won't know you’re going through treatment when you're wearing Invisalign clear aligners because they are virtually invisible!
  • Got a special occasion coming up? No problem, just take your aligners out for the event and pop them back in when you’re done.
  • With Invisalign clear aligners, you don't have to worry about doing the sports you want to do. Invisalign treatment is a suitable treatment option for an active lifestyle.
  • Are you deciding whether to straighten your teeth but feel worried about the discomfort? With innovative SmartForce features and SmartTrack Material technologies, the Invisalign System straightens your teeth predictably and more comfortably.
  • Invisalign treatment is ideal for your busy schedule, with doctor visits only approximately every 6-8 weeks. That means you can spend more time doing the things that are important to you.

Treatable cases

Many think that Invisalign aligners only work for minor teeth straightening issues, but the Invisalign System can also be used to treat a range of moderate to severe teeth straightening issues such as:

Gapped Teeth

This occurs when there is considerable space between at least two of your teeth, which could potentially lead to gum problems.

Crossbite

This can occur when the upper and lower jaws are both misaligned, which could potentially lead to tooth wear and tear.

Overbite

This occurs when the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth, which could potentially lead to painful jaw irritation.

Underbite

This occurs when the lower teeth protrude past the front teeth and can prevent normal function of your front teeth or molars.

Overcrowding

This occurs when there is simply a lack of room within your jaw for all your teeth to fit normally, which can lead to plaque accumulation.

Openbite

This is when your upper and lower teeth are unable to make physical contact when the jaws are closed, which could make chewing difficult.
